MAKE THE NUMBERS USEFUL

Bulk material delivery cost calculator

Use the material mass you intend to order and the quantity per delivery stated in your quotation. This assumes the last partial delivery is charged for the actual material mass, with the same delivery charge for each delivery.

How the calculation works

Deliveries = required tonnes ÷ quoted tonnes per delivery, rounded up. Material cost = required tonnes × price per tonne, rounded once to the nearest penny. Delivery cost = deliveries × charge per delivery. Total = material cost + delivery cost.

Use the result with care

The material quantity is not rounded up to fill the final delivery. Your supplier may instead apply minimum quantities, full-load charges or different delivery rates; check the actual quotation. Use the same price basis throughout. This calculation does not infer density, approve a vehicle payload, establish access or unloading arrangements, or assess handling and storage suitability.
