MAKE THE NUMBERS USEFUL

Rectangular sheet quantity calculator

Enter sheet and finished-piece dimensions in millimetres, your saw-cut width and the required piece count. The calculator checks an unrotated grid and a grid with every piece rotated 90 degrees. It does not combine orientations on one sheet.

How the calculation works

Columns = floor((sheet length + cut width) ÷ (piece length + cut width)); rows use the corresponding widths. Pieces per sheet = columns × rows. Sheets = required pieces ÷ pieces per sheet, rounded up. The second grid swaps the finished piece dimensions.

Use the result with care

This is a uniform-grid quantity estimate, not an optimised cutting plan or cutting instructions. Mixed orientations may use fewer sheets. Grain, pattern, face requirements or product instructions may prohibit rotation. Edge trimming, margins, defects and unusable areas are not modelled, and no saw-cut width is supplied. Check the actual dimensions and a practical cutting layout before ordering or cutting.
