The calculation
Section volume (m³) = length (m) × width (m) × depth (mm) ÷ 1,000. Total volume is the sum of the section volumes. Litres = total cubic metres × 1,000.
Measure separate sections
The calculator cannot identify overlaps in your measurements. Each section should describe its own rectangular volume at a constant depth, counted once. Split a shape into more sections when a single rectangle would include space you do not intend to measure.
Dimensions are inputs, not recommendations
This calculation does not choose a suitable construction depth, material mix, compaction allowance or structural design. It does not convert a geometric volume into the amount of dry material needed. Use dimensions already established for the task and check the product and project requirements separately.
Use the measured total
Continue to the material weight calculator only with a documented density for the relevant condition, or the bulk delivery cost calculator when you have the quoted mass and delivery quantities. For a single rectangle, use the rectangular volume calculator.
Entries are calculated in this browser and are not sent to a calculation service or saved by this tool. Reset restores one empty section.
